It's Not About Religion, It's About Relationship

It’s not about religion, it’s about relationship. It’s my sincere hope that this becomes the official mission statement of Perrin Community Church. Even though it’s not official, it’s definitely the prevailing belief at the church. We understand that it’s not about acting “good”, it’s about real transformation, the kind that only comes from being in relationship with Jesus Christ.

If you’re looking for a church, we hope you’ll look at us, but there are some things you need to know. If you’re looking for a church with a highly polished, seamless worship service, then our church probably isn’t for you. It’s not that we don’t have order in our worship services, we do, but it’s not perfect. The music isn’t professional quality, but it’s sincere and its sole aim is the worship of Jesus. The preaching isn’t brilliant, but it’s honest. The pastor is definitely not ready for TV, but he will admit his faults and struggles openly in the hopes that it makes it easier for everyone else to admit theirs.

It’s okay if babies cry and make noise during the worship service, because we understand that these are the sounds of growth, the sounds of the future and quite frankly, the sounds of life. If you want to come, sit in a pew and just be, you’re welcome to do so. If you want to come and take an active part in the life of the church, you’re also welcome to do so. If you need a place to come and heal, or a place where somebody will walk alongside you in whatever struggles you’re facing, then you’ve come to the right place.  C.S. Lewis once said that, “church is not so much a museum for saints as it is a hospital for sinners.” It’s a place where you can feel safe.

If we’re honest about it, then we understand that the church as a whole is made up of broken people. Only Jesus knows how to put the broken pieces back together. He gave his life so we could be forgiven, sent his Holy Spirit to comfort and guide us and established his church as the community through which he ministers his love, forgiveness, healing and comfort. He never intended that any of us should go through life alone, so he gave us one another, his church.

If you don’t have a church home, I hope you’ll check us out. You’ll be welcomed warmly (and sincerely) and encouraged to come back. You can be yourself. Perrin Community Church isn’t for everybody, but it is for anybody.
